Assessment

Assessment in art is linked to planning. It can  take place both during and at the end of the activity.
It is the teacher's responsibility to review
the results of a lesson or a unit and, if it is necessary, searching for alternatives to improve it.
A way to make a better use of our learners is to have few minutes before finishing the task and to ask for their opinions and comments about the teaching.

Suggested questions for the teacher:

  • What did I try to teach students today?
  • Did I succeed?
  • Were the instructions clear?
  • Did they get enough time/practice?
  • Would you like to go faster or slower?
  • Which aspects do you like most/least?
  • If something has gone wrong, how could it be improved?
  • Suggestions, opinions, feelings

Self-evaluation, to evaluate the autonomy, attitude and procedure.
As well as trying to improve my teaching I would like the students to evaluate themselves.

Suggested questions for the learners:

  • Have I make the effort to use/practise English?
  • Have I used the materials, tools.. properly?
  • Have I cleaned them up?
  • Am I happy with the outcome?
  • What have I learned today?

The teacher must engage the students in appropriate target language use, which includes the language of reflection and self-assessment. How to question, how to describe, how to analyze.

Children should be taught to be careful viewers and critics with respect for each other's work, ideas or feelings.

Finally, children will be tested how they:

  • Develop skills, understanding and application of Art Concepts.
  • Use  English, if they use the main keywords, artworks and if they ask questions in English.
  • Participate and the effort made it.
  • Use and care of material.
  • Behave.

Teacher assessment

A sheet of evaluation of the unit per group. There is a column to write the names of the students and then an easy way to assess every child progress and process.
Tested:  1, 2, 3, 4, meaning: 1-very good, 2-good, 3- satisfactory and 4- not satisfactory, which are the same the school uses per every subject.

Student assessment

A sheet of self-assessment for the whole term. Children will complete the sheet at the end of the unit.
Teacher will use this assessment to compare his/hers
